Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced a new federal investment to build and commercialize the world’s first photonic-based, fault-tolerant quantum computer. According to a news release from the Prime Minster’s website, the investment of 40 million Canadian dollars ($32 million) will enable Xanadu Quantum Technologies Inc.

India's newest fast bowling star Renuka Singh beat Australia's Darcie Brown, England's Alice Capsey, and compatriot Yastika Bhatia to become the recipient of ICC Emerging Women's Cricketer of the Year 2022.

Veteran Telugu actress and former MP Jay Jamuna passed away at the age of 86. He was born on August 30, 1936, in Hampi. Jamuna made her film debut at the age of 16 with Puttilu (1952), produced by Garikapati Raja Rao of the Praja Natya Mandali, the cultural wing of the Communist Party of India (CPI). Prior to this, he acted in several stages plays on behalf of the Indian People's Theater Association run by Raja Rao.

Nepal wicketkeeper Aasif Sheikh has been named the recipient of the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award 2022 for his decision not to run out Andy McBrine after the Irish star tripped while attempting a run. Aasif thus becomes the first player from Nepal to win the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award.
